Orange County Regional History Center

Digital art

Part of a series of Orlando’s great buildings from the past and present.

The downtown Orlando building that houses the Orange County Regional History Center began its life in 1927 as the Orange County Courthouse, replacing the original courthouse from 1892. It was then replaced in turn by a new 23-story high-rise tower in 1995, and in 2000 the History Center moved in.

I’m happy to say we’ve visited this lovely neoclassical revival building – and the adjacent Heritage Square park – many times over the years to see home town exhibits like the Pulse memorial, traveling shows like the Muppets, and even a screening of The Creature from the Black Lagoon with a special appearance by stuntwoman Ginger Stanley Hallowell!
